The top lawmakers from the West Virginia Legislature joined the West Virginia Press Association for a lively discussion on the first full day of seminars at Oglebay Resort.

Senate President Jeff Kessler, House Speaker Tim Miley, Senate Minority Leader Mike Hall and House Minority Tim Armstead all spoke to editors and publishers from across West Virginia. Phil Reale, lobbyist for the West Virginia Press Association, served as the moderator, with editors Ed Given of the Braxton Citizens News and Mike Myer of the Wheeling News-Register also asking questions of the legislative leaders.

The four agreed that the state must continue to make strides in improving education and broadband connectivity, that the state has a great need for drug treatment programs and that a “Future Fund” is something that should be considered in some form.
