Greenbrier Classic field growing stronger

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Greenbrier Classic chairman Jim Justice is confident he’s hit a home run with the Greenbrier Classic Concert Series with last week’s announcement of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert performing on July 3 and Thursday’s news that Keith Urban and The Band Perry would headline another show on July 1.

“It’s a big deal,” he said. “I don’t know how we could have done any better.”

 Now his attention can turn fully to the action inside the ropes.

So far, that lineup is a star-studded one, as well.

Justice and company landed the big fish last week when they announced that golf’s Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, will be part of the 2015 Greenbrier Classic field. On Thursday came the announcement of three other stars, Bubba Watson, Brandt Snedeker and Webb Simpson.

Among them, that group has captured 99 PGA Tour wins and 17 major championships, and there are still 152 spots left to fill.
