Fairmont goes all out to attract Chick-fil-A

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — More than 400 residents enjoyed Chick-fil-A for lunch in downtown Fairmont on Thursday.

According to Main Street Fairmont director Kate Greene, Chick-fil-A was brought in Thursday to show that there is a market and a desire for a restaurant in the city.

Customers not only pre-ordered their food, but also lined up down the block and filled the front section of the Main Street Fairmont office.

Numerous volunteers along with the owner of the Chick-fil-A attempted to keep up with the constant flow of customers.

Greene said she considered the event a success.

“It started to demonstrate to (Chick-fil-A owner Paul Rankin) that there is in fact a market for his product in Fairmont, and so it was a very tiny initiative,” Greene said. “We thought we would demonstrate this on a small scale and put it out there very casually on the day before the event to a couple of local downtown spots within walking distance.”
