Boehner to swear in Evan Jenkins on Tuesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The first U.S. Congressman from Huntington since 1976 will be sworn in on the House floor Tuesday afternoon.

U.S. Rep. Evan Jenkins, R-W.Va., is expected to take the oath of office sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:30. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, will swear in Jenkins.

Boehner toured a coal facility with Jenkins and U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Oregon, just days before the Nov. 4 general election, when Jenkins defeated 38-year incumbent Rep. Nick Rahall, D-W.Va., for the state’s 3rd Congressional District. Jenkins won with roughly 56 percent of the vote.
