Bluefield dorm furniture going to flood victims

BLUEFIELD, Va. — A team effort is underway to provide badly needed furniture for victims of the recent flooding in West Virginia.

Bluefield College, with the help of the City of Bluefield, the Town of Bluefield, Va. and the Rotary Club of Bluefield are ready to move to storage and then ship more than 400 pieces of furniture to be used by flood victims.

Chris Shoemaker, director of marketing and public relations for Bluefield College, said help is needed today to move and pack the furniture.

“Local churches, civic clubs and other residents are invited to join the cause by helping volunteers remove the furniture from Bluefield College’s Rish Hall,” he said. “Simply show up ready to help at 9:30 a.m. Friday (today).”

Those volunteers already signed up to help are from the city, town, the Rotary club and the college.

Shoemaker said the furniture came from from one of the college’s residence halls which is receiving new furniture…
