ATV resort proposed for McDowell County

WELCH, W.Va. — A large-scale ATV resort has been proposed for the Indian Ridge Industrial Park in McDowell County.

The proposed Indian Ridge ATV Resort LLC will incorporate about 10 acres of land near Welch, and will include approximately 57 rental units for riders of the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system, along with mobile home pads. Work on the ATV resort could begin as early as this fall.

“It’s actually going to be 10 acres,” Emmett Peake, a resident of Radford, Va., who is developing the resort, said. “We are very excited about it. There is a lot of enthusiasm from the people we are talking with. We are talking with the contractors. We are waiting on our bids. We are probably looking at opening up in the spring of 2017.”

The resort also is proposed to include a firepit pavilion, a scrub house with showers for men and women, coin-operated washers and dryers, overflow parking, picnic tables, RV parking…
