Lego work to take Monroe County kids to St. Louis

UNION, W.Va. — A roving robot made primarily of toy Lego blocks is making a big jump from a game board in Monroe County all the way to St. Louis for the “World Festival” competition of the First Lego League in April.

The robot had help from a team of nine students, ages 10 to 14, from Mountain View Elementary-Middle School in Union who comprise a 4-H robotics team called the Boa Constructors.

Together, they will represent West Virginia in the international competition at the Edward Jones Dome in Missouri, after winning the state championship in December at Fairmont State University.

The First Lego League competition is far more than playing with blocks and motors. It’s about cooperation, and teamwork…
