Harrison County counts more than 100 homeless

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — This week’s homeless count found over 100 people without a permanent dwelling in Harrison County, organizers said.

But only 15 of those homeless individuals were unsheltered, including eight recently displaced by Winter Storm Jonas, the organizers said.

“What I take from it is that Homes for Harrison County has been tremendously successful,” said Chris Mullett, executive director of the Clarksburg Mission.

Homes for Harrison County is a program that focuses on getting homeless people a roof over their heads first, then addresses the issues responsible for their being on the streets…
