CHARLESTON, W.Va. — After eight years of conflict, nurses and doctors reached a compromise agreement on a bill to advance practice registered nurses (APRNs) to practice independently with limited prescriptive authority.
Two physicians who fought the bill last year and most of this session stood to support the agreement.
The compromise version of HB 4334 came in the form of an amendment — offered by Sens. Kent Leonhardt, R-Monongalia, and Bob Williams, D-Taylor.
