WHEELING, W.Va. — Between 2010 and 2015, the Ogden Newspapers Half Marathon Classic handed out more than $100,000 to six local charitable causes. That amount grew by its largest-ever one-year total on Thursday, with the race committee presenting J.B. Chambers YMCA Executive Director Adam Shinsky a check for $20,000.

Shinsky said the donation is huge for the local Y and its programs.

“In the past two years, our programs have increased dramatically, but requests also have increased for scholarships from single-parent families and for day care,” he said. “Our motto is, we never turn anyone away without the ability to pay. With great donations like this, we’re able to live up to that motto.”

The race each year donates its proceeds to a worthy cause…
