MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The Kappa Alpha and Pi Kappa Alpha fraternities were placed on a temporary suspension Monday afternoon by West Virginia University’s Office of Student Activities.
Recruitment week won’t be halted for these fraternities, but all social activities are at this time banned, according to Jonathan Thurston, president of the Inter-Fraternity Council.
Both fraternities violated Morgantown’s fire code by exceeding occupancy limits over the weekend.
One member from each fraternity was cited with an overcrowding charge and one member of Kappa Alpha was cited for obstructing and threatening a fire official, according to a University press release.
