Wheeling welcomes C-SPAN this week

WHEELING, W.Va.– The city of Wheeling’s history and literature will be in the national spotlight during a weeklong visit by C-SPAN.

The public is being invited to kick off the visit at 10 a.m. Tuesday at West Virginia Independence Hall Museum downtown. Travis Henline, the museum’s site manager, said C-SPAN plans to interview him about the history of the city to create segments that will air on C-SPAN2, also known as Book TV, and C-SPAN3, also known as American History TV, on Jan. 17-18.

“I will talking about the history of Independence Hall for one segment,” Henline said, noting taping for his TV segment is expected to begin after Tuesday’s event.

Wheeling Vice Mayor Gene Fahey will also make remarks during Tuesday’s event. C-SPAN officials will talk about their plans for the week and what they aim to do in the city.

Starting Monday, C-SPAN plans to visit various historic sites throughout the Friendly City and interview local historians, authors and civic leaders during the week.
