West Virginia could be site of new methanol plants

BECKLEY, W.Va. — If the whispers around the central part of the state are true, up to three methanol plants could come to natural-gas rich West Virginia.

California-based U.S. Methanol announced on its website that it is entering the production business by purchasing and relocating two facilities in West Virginia, both in the Charleston area and along the Kanawha River.

Marcellus Drilling, a niche publication serving the oil and natural gas industry, is reporting that one facility, known as Liberty One, is being built in Institute. The second facility is slated for construction in Belle and will be known as Liberty Two.
