W.Va. governor signs three-state accord on oil, gas

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, along with Ohio Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor and Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, signed an accord Tuesday aimed at maximizing development of oil and gas resources in the Appalachian Basin.

Tomblin and Taylor both discussed the new agreement during the 2015 Tri-State Shale Summit at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown. Wolf, who could not attend the summit in person, prepared a video presentation discussing the agreement.

The agreement outlines how West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania will work regionally to accomplish shared goals for developing the oil and gas resources laden in the Marcellus and Utica shales that span the three states.
