‘Tuirn McDowell Around’ seeks citizen involvement

WELCH, W.Va. — Local organizers are hoping for a big turnout April 21 for a community-led effort to strengthen McDowell County’s economy, create new business opportunities and help families and young people stay in the county.

Turn McDowell Around, a new organization for local development, has held two meetings already, according to Jake Lynch, director of network communications for West Virginia Community Development Hub.

“A couple of people in McDowell County reached out to us to see if we could help,” Lynch said Tuesday, adding, “This third meeting is very much the meeting where we want to pack the house and get as many voices as we can, a real cross section of the community.”

The third meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at the First Welch United Methodist Church on Virginia Avenue. Light refreshments will be served.

Ideas being brought up by Turn McDowell Around are still in the general stage…
