Suspect in four Monongalia killings found dead

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The man accused of killing four people in three different shootings was found dead of a gunshot wound late Monday, Dec. 1.

Police found Jody Hunt, 39, of Westover, dead after a nearly 12-hour search following the shootings. He was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Officials had been searching for Hunt following shootings at Doug’s Towing, at a residence off Sweet Pea Lane and at an apartment along Sunset Beach Road in Cheat Lake.

West Virginia State Police identified the victims at the Cheat Lake residence as Sharon Kay Berkshire, 37, of Westover, and Michael David Frum, 28, of Granville. Police have not released the name of the victim at Doug’s Towing. The Sweet Pea Lane victim was identified as Jody Taylor.

According to court records, Berkshire had filed for two protective orders against Hunt, in 2013 and 2014, but dropped both before either became official. The most recent request was dropped in mid-November…
