Parkersburg family wins Band-Aid jingle contest

The Eddys of Parkersburg — Jake on the banjo, Carter on the mandolin and Mary playing the guitar — have won the online vote and $10,000 from Wal-Mart in Band-Aid’s video jingle contest.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Mary, Jake and Carter Eddy of Parkersburg are the winners.

Mary Eddy has been notified that she and her sons Jake, 14, and Carter, 10, have won the national Band-Aid jingle contest. Using Band-Aid’s “Stuck on Me” jingle, the Eddys created a “Stuck on Bluegrass” jingle for the video contest.

The Eddys photograph and winning jingle have been posted onwww.band-aid.com and www.facebook.com/bandaid. Additional information from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies Inc., which owns the Band-Aid brand, was unavailable on Wednesday.

The public could vote online once a day from June 3 through June 17 for their favorite video among the 12 finalists in the jingle contest. Videos of a child, children or family singing the jingle were accepted from April 14 through May 26.

A panel of judges selected the 12 finalists.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Mary said after being informed they had won the contest. The Eddy family will receive a $10,000 gift card from Wal-Mart for winning the contest.

Mary said she promised her sons $1,000 each if they won the contest…
