Morgantown elementary gets teacher fitness room

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Eastwood Elementary School cut the ribbon for a new fitness center to boost staff wellness Jan. 14.

Kidematics and Young Hearts, two Morgantown-based companies, donated fitness equipment to transform Eastwood’s faculty lounge into a functional training center. Two treadmills, a stationary bicycle, Olympic bar set, squat rack were brought to the school along with sets of dumbbell and kettle bell weights.

“This is something we’ve wanted to do for a long time,” said Meghan Phillips, owner of Kidematics and physical education teacher at the school. “If we want kids to be healthy, they need to see health in action.”

Phillips said the new training room will not only improve teachers’ physical health, but help manage the natural stress that comes with the job…
