Menis Ketchum to be WV chief justice once again

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia announced Monday that Justice Menis Ketchum will be the next chief justice of the court.

Although Ketchum accepted the rotating role of chief justice, he said his real passion in his justice role is working on judicial research and writing.

“It’s a big headache because the chief administers the court’s 1,500 employees and manages the court’s $134 million budget,” he said. “In other words, the chief handles all the court’s problems on a day-to-day basis.

Ketchum, a Wayne County native and Huntington resident, was elected to a full 12-year term on the Supreme Court in November 2008. The position of chief justice is chosen annually…
