Mega backpack drive mounted for kids in flood zone

PEACH CREEK, W.Va. — Thirty-three counties and numerous organizations and churches across West Virginia and out of state are participating in the West Virginia Board of Education (WVBE) Back to School Supply Flood Relief Drive. The supplies will be used to fill backpacks for students living in the counties ravaged by floods in June.

For the last several days, the back to school supplies from the drive has been arriving at the former 84 Lumber site at Peach Creek. Volunteers, both local and from across the state, are showing up to assemble almost 10,000 backpacks for students living in the areas flooded in late June…
