Marshall’s Top 25 ranking is first in 12 years

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — It had been 4,299 days since Marshall’s football program had been able to celebrate when an Associated Press poll came out ranking the nation’s top teams.

That streak will not reach 4,300 days.

Marshall found itself ranked No. 25 when the poll was released on Sunday afternoon. The Thundering Herd was No. 24 in the Amway Top 25 coaches poll which came out prior to the Associated Press poll.

That places the Conference USA East Division leader in the top 25 for the first time since the Herd finished 24th in the final poll of the 2002 season.
