Marshall to mark opening of engineering complex

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Capping nearly three years of eye-catching construction, Marshall University is ready to unveil its newest facility to the public.

The university will celebrate the opening of its $56 million Arthur Weisberg Family Applied Engineering Complex with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, on the Morrow Library lawn, across 3rd Avenue from the complex. Following the ceremony, tours and a reception will be offered of the complex, located at 1676 3rd Ave.

Wael Zatar, dean of the College of Information Technology and Engineering, has said the 145,000-square-foot facility will offer a foundation upon which the university’s engineering program can expand.

“It will further the mission and ensure the success of our students,” Zatar said. “Now we have the facility to support excellent educational programs and excellent faculty members who have been working very hard.”
