Huntington sells tract to Marriott developer

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.  — The Huntington Municipal Development Authority (HMDA) authorized in a meeting Monday the sale of 2.1 acres of land in Kinetic Park for the planned development of a Marriott Hotel.

H&W Hotel Development and Professional Hotel Management, which has already developed two hotels at the site, has agreed to purchase the land for $699,600.

Under the development plan, the hotel would sit on the upper part of the business park, near the Amazon.com call center, with one side facing W.Va. 10 and the other facing Interstate 64.

Tom Bell, HMDA executive director, said the plans do not include a restaurant or bar.

Bell said it is his understanding the planned development is “more upscale” in scope…
