Harrison County voters renew school excess levy

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — About 72 percent of Harrison voters cast their ballots in favor of the county school excess levy Saturday.

Of the 6,770 voters who went to the polls in the county’s 67 precincts, 4,857 voted for the levy, according to Harrison County Clerk Susan Thomas.

“It was a lot more than I expected. It was good turnout, I think,” Thomas said.

Harrison Schools Superintendent Dr. Mark Manchin was pleased with the results.

“The voters of Harrison County recognize the importance of education, and they have shown it through the ballot box today,” Manchin said.
