Harrison County lawmaker to run for secretary of state

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Del. Patsy Trecost, D-Harrison, said Wednesday he plans to run for West Virginia secretary of state.

Meanwhile, former state lawmaker Sam Cann has added his name to the list of hopefuls for Harrison County Commission, and local lawyer Chris McCarthy has thrown his hat in the ring for an open circuit judge seat.

Trecost said he will file his candidacy papers this morning in the Secretary of State’s Office in Charleston.

“It would be a good opportunity for me to serve more people,” he said of his decision to forgo running for a second two-year term in the House of Delegates.
