MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Mountaineers fans cheered for several reasons during WVU’s 90-68 win over Texas Tech on Wednesday, March 2, as a new Mountaineer mascot was named.

Troy Clemons, of Maxwelton, W.Va., will be the new mascot.

“This is the best feeling ever — I don’t know what to think quite yet, but I’m sure it will set in later,” the senior sports management major said.

The four finalists for the mascot were Ethan Ball, a sophomore marketing major from Princeton, W.Va.; Clemons; Aren Cox, a freshman criminology major from Wexford, Pa.; and Savannah Lusk, a sophomore exercise physiology major from Covel, W.Va…
