Fourteen Huntington residents displaced by fire

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Fourteen people are without homes after an apartment building caught fire Tuesday night in the 200 block of 5th Avenue.

The fire engulfed the roof of the three-story, six unit apartment building.

The call came in to Cabell County 911 dispatchers around 9:30 p.m., and the fire was nearly out by 11 p.m.

 Huntington Police Chief Carl Eastham said everyone made it out and there were no injuries. No one was transported to the hospital, according to Cabell County 911 dispatch.

Emergency medical responders did work on at least one cat, which was trapped in the back third floor unit.

The residents of the unit and owner of the cat, Aynessa Wymer and Dwayne Bowan, said they had been gone all day…
