Federal, state officials raid Raleigh County clinic

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Federal and state law enforcement agencies executed a federal warrant on the Hope Clinic in Beaver on Thursday, both shocking and leaving arriving patients wondering about their medications.

U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia Booth Goodwin confirmed that federal officers are conducting an investigation into the pain clinic, located at 106 Lockheed Dr., but could not comment further. A federal magistrate sealed the search warrants.

During Thursday’s raid, an alphabet soup of federal and state agencies — FBI, DEA and the West Virginia State Police — were observed placing a number of file boxes into the back compartments of a row of black sport utility Vehicles.

Federal law prohibits Goodwin from releasing any information about the case, including why the raid occurred.

An employee of the clinic issued a one-word statement to a person seeking more information on the raid — “GO!” she said.

Confusion was rampant as patients were told to leave the pain clinic…
