WEST UNION, W.Va. — The Doddridge County Board of Education took a step Tuesday night toward hiring a new superintendent after a divided board voted 3-2 last Thursday not to renew Rick Coffman’s contract.
The board voted Tuesday, also 3-2, to hire Dr. Howard O’Cull, director of the state School Board Association, to assist in the search for Coffman’s replacement.
Denver Burnside, board vice president, said the board issued a collective statement following Coffman’s evaluation last Thursday that he had met all standards. Coffman’s contract expires June 30.
