LOGAN, W.Va. — Swimmers love the Chief Logan Rec Center swimming pool so much that a major sports conference in West Virginia may soon hold a regional meet there.

HyCAT Director Greg Olson said at the recent HyCAT swim meet that he expects the Mountain State Athletics Conference to hold a regional meet at the Chief Logan Rec Center.

Olson has been assisting the swimming program at the rec center since the Southern West Virginia Stingrays’ first club meet. He said the rec center pool is such a great facility that it keeps bringing him — and swimmers from all across West Virginia — back.

“I love coming here because the pool is so nice,” Olson said. “I just enjoy it. It’s a great place.”

Olson said he has spoken with the George Washington High School swim coach and believes that the rec center pool will be the site of a regional swim meet in the very near future. He said it could happen as early as the last weekend of January or the first Saturday in February.

The MSAC held a regional meet last year and swimmers, coaches and parents from all across the state were pleased with the Chief Logan Rec Center pool. Olson has said it’s a “fast” pool, where swimmers can improve their times.
