MILTON, W.Va. — Blenko Glass Company has started making its 2015 West Virginia Day piece, “Autumn Flame,” which will go on sale at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 20, in celebration of West Virginia’s 152nd birthday.

The vase pays homage to West Virginia’s trees, designer Arlon Bayliss said. He described the piece as “a tall, leaf-shaped, flattened bottle in tangerine with rippling sides and a gentle curve in its body through its stalk-like neck. Indented veins, reminiscent of trees, echo the curve and give a feeling of movement throughout the piece.”

The two companion pieces, which are flattened, leaf-shaped bottles representing foliage, are called “Summer Shade” and “Spring at Last.” The two will be available at Blenko’s gift shop at 7 p.m. Friday, June 19, during its “Happy After Hours” sale, which is also a signing event with Walter Blenko and Arlon Bayliss. Online orders will be taken for the companion pieces starting Monday, June 22…
