Each year, many West Virginians make the pledge to be healthier

FAIRMONT, W.Va.  — Now that the new year has already begun, talk of a New Year’s resolution has been a common occurrence for many.

One popular resolution made every year is a healthier lifestyle and a weight loss goal. Local businesses in Fairmont are here to help.

Fairmont Fitness co-owner Jerry Gardner shared that this time of year is the busiest for the local gym.

“New Year’s resolutions are the big reason why, but also the inclement weather, long evenings and short days,” Gardner said. “Those factors all drive people indoors.”

Gardner said Fairmont Fitness primarily offers tips on a one-on-one basis when it comes to weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, but he offered some general suggestions for those looking to fulfill their resolution.
