WV selection of GOP convention delegates intricate

BECKLEY, W.Va. — West Virginia’s 34 delegates to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, will be elected by voters who should bring an eagle eye to the booth and be prepared to take their time in a somewhat confusing process.

Here are the rules, as outlined by the Republican National Committee:

• Three delegates are allotted for the state RNC members, the state chair, Conrad Lucas, and National Committeeman Kris Warner  and Committee Woman Melody Potter, West Virginia’s Super Delegates.

Lucas said rules for whether or not the three vote for the candidate with the most popular votes in the state has yet to be determined. That rule will be considered by the RNC Convention Rules Committee, which has not been selected, he said.
