CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state was finally able to send out Promise Scholarship award letters last week now that all of its funding, and funding for other grants distributed by the Higher Education Policy Commission, has been fully secured. Award letters for the higher eduction grant are being sent out this week.
As of Wednesday, nearly 3,580 students have been awarded Promise, a merit-based scholarship, said Jessica Kennedy, spokeswoman for the commission. The commission expects that number to rise as ACT and SAT test scores from May and June continue to roll in.
