WV deputy says kids were force-fed hot peppers

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Idamay parents have been charged with felonies after a deputy discovered they were allegedly forcing their children to eat habanero peppers as punishment.

On Wednesday, Deputy Aaron VanPelt with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department went to a residence on Chestnut Street in Idamay in reference to an abuse/neglect investigation.

VanPelt wrote in a criminal complaint that Joshua John Fouse, 26, and Meghan Hannah Davis, 31, both of Idamay, would punish their children by force-feeding them habanero peppers. The complaint states Fouse and Davis would withhold water and milk until their children “learned their lesson.”

Fouse allegedly told VanPelt that if the children would spit the pepper out, throw up or complain about it, they would make them eat another pepper. The complaint states that sometimes Fouse would blend the peppers and make them drink the substance…
