CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Bridgeport, Clarksburg and Grafton are among 12 West Virginia municipalities that will start collecting a local sales and use tax on July 1 as part of their home rule programs.
The addition of these 12 cities will bring the total number of municipalities collecting the tax to 28, according to the state tax department.
“Under the home rule program, it affords the opportunities for the municipalities to have another source of revenue to take care of various needs of their communities,” Clarksburg City Manager Martin Howe said.
