Recovered body may be missing Greenbrier teen

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A search team that included cadaver dogs recovered a body near Caldwell at around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to Greenbrier County Sheriff Jan Cahill.

Although the state Medical Examiner will have to make a positive identification, Cahill said he feels “pretty optimistic” that the remains are those of Mykala Phillips, 14, of White Sulphur Springs, who has been missing and presumed dead since the June 23 flood swept her away from her family.

The remains of all of the rest of the flood’s 15 Greenbrier County victims have been recovered, but it has been more than a month since the last body prior to this one was found, also in Caldwell…
