Pierpont Community and Technical College hosts event to introduce middle school girls to field of STEM careers

WHITE HALL, W.Va. — Martina Bachlechner knew she wanted to go into a STEM field career when she was a 19-year-old student.

She was studying to be a teacher and needed some subjects which she could specialize in; she admitted to picking physics as the best option of her choices.

“The reason I got into physics that I’m telling all these students is I had to have two subjects in school,” Bachlechner, STREAM coordinator at Pierpont Community and Technical College (PCTC), said. “I struggled myself, but the second year of studies we had theoretical and mathematical physics and that’s when I fell in love.
