MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A new interchange on Interstate 79, between Westover and Star City, is set to open Sept. 1.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Exit 153 will be held at 4 p.m. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin is slated to attend. A reception will follow at the Courtyard Marriott, by Monongalia County Ballpark.

Construction work on the $22 million project began in early 2015, as part of a tax increment financing (TIF) project at University Town Centre. The exit will provide a second entrance to access the shopping center and ballpark.
