FAIRMONT, W.Va.  — Delegate Guy Ward (R- Marion, 50) has filed to run for re-election to the West Virginia House of Delegates to continue “moving in the right direction” economically.

As the mayor of White Hall, Ward stays active in the community with affiliations with the Fairmont Rotary, White Hall Kiwanis, Fairmont Lions, West Virginia Three Rivers Festival, Marion County Historical Society, Valley Falls State Park Foundation, Woodlawn cemetery, Marion County CVB and Region VI Planning and Development.

Ward is a retired material analyst and was elected to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 2016 where he has been active with committee assignments in energy, government organization, industry and labor, small business and economic development and house standing committee on fire departments and emergency medical services.

As a delegate, Ward was the lead sponsor of three bills: the pending bill HB 27146 imposing an indefinite moratorium on new business and occupancy or privilege taxes, pending bill HB 2985 relating to taxes on beer and non-intoxicating beer and pending bill HB 3011 changing the determination of just compensation to be paid to the landowner when eminent domain is used for a pipeline.

“I think there is a lot more to do,” Ward said. “The state’s starting to move in the right direction, and I want to be a part of it and help Marion County as much as I can. A lot of things I started my first term I’d like to see through and I think it’s an opportunity to help Marion County.”
