BECKLEY, W.Va. — Addressing the possible murder and dismemberment of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Turkey earlier this month, United States Sen. Joe Manchin said Thursday that the United States cannot support a regime that uses brutality or murder.
“The United States cannot support any regime, any government, that uses brute force, brutality, murder, if you will, to basically suppress,” he said. “We live in a democracy. The First Amendment, and we’re going to say, ‘OK, we accept it, that’s their way.’
