CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Local and national companies and organizations are rallying behind the West Virginia community by donating supplies, money and time to assist with the state’s flood recovery efforts.

Appalachian Power will be offering free electrical inspections for families whose homes were damaged by flooding and is making a $25,000 contribution to the American Red Cross for West Virginia flood relief. In addition, AEP staff are contributing to a company-run relief fund that the AEP Foundation plans to match up to $50,000. The contributions will be donated to the Salvation Army and the American Red Cross.

Applebee’s took over for the America Red Cross food service at Capital High School Wednesday and will be serving lunch and dinner to those sheltered in and near the high school through Sunday.

AT&T tents have been set up in the Elkview area with free charging stations, phones to contact friends and family, and tablets with access to the Internet…
