Last of FEMA’s WV centers to close Wednesday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The last of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Disaster Recovery Centers are scheduled to close Wednesday evening, a week before the deadline to apply for aid from FEMA.

The centers in Clendenin, Rainelle and White Sulphur Springs will all close at 5 p.m., though FEMA officials say the closure only affects how residents of flood-affected counties get help, not what kind of help they can get.

“People will still have help available to them by calling in, where they can talk to a real person and that person can pull up their application and work with them on anything they need to do,” said Robert Howard, FEMA media relations specialist. “From FEMA, everything that could be done at a DRC can now be done over the phone…
