RICHWOOD, W.Va. — The people of this mountain town stood along the riverbank Thursday and watched as their homes filled with water and their possessions were destroyed. They didn’t cry or curse.
Instead, they laughed. They chatted among themselves and told stories.
“You just have to have a sense of humor about life and this sort of thing,” resident Robert Barnette said. “I am just playing the waiting game to see how my house is. I have been at this Go-Mart for about three hours now.
