CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Senate president and GOP gubernatorial candidate Bill Cole released Tuesday a seven-point plan to combat the state’s growing drug addiction crisis.
The plan calls for:
• A special session of the legislature with drug addiction as the focus.
• Harsher penalties and mandatory sentencing for “drug kingpins” who sell methamphetamines and heroin to children.
• Judicial flexibility in sentencing for drug addicts who “demonstrate the potential to get clean, get a job, and return as a productive member of society…
