ELKINS, W.Va. — Officials announced 125 workers will lose their jobs as the result of the closure of IBEX Global’s Elkins office.
The company sent out a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice earlier this week. The facility at 501 Wilson Lane will close by Oct. 31.
“This business closure is not due to the performance of our employees,” the company said in the notice.
The notice did not say anything more about why the business was closing.
All employees at the site, which is a call center, will be permanently laid off no sooner than 60 days from the date of the notice.
Affected employees include 109 inbound customer service agents, seven team supervisors, one recruiter, two trainers, one senior trainer, two facilities specialists, one technical support specialist, one operations manager and one senior operations manager.
“We have valued and appreciated being part of the Elkins business community since 2010 and will support our employees in their job transition,” the notice stated.
Elkins Mayor Van Broughton said he was surprised and disheartened by the news.
“It’s really a shock because I had heard they were moving forward and even in the process of hiring some more employees,” he said. “It’s sad, and it’s definitely a concern for our community.”
