BECKLEY, W.Va. — Former Massey Energy CEO Don Blankenship will begin serving his 12-month sentence today in a California prison.
As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit had not ruled on Blankenship’s emergency motion to stay his sentence.
His defense attorneys filed the motion Tuesday, requesting Blankenship be allowed to remain free on bond pending appeal.
