MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Members of the Martinsburg chapter of the AARP will be delivering Christmas to area seniors early this year.
Members hand-prepared “blizzard boxes” Wednesday at the Berkeley Services Senior Center.
According to Gloria Young, president of the Martinsburg/Berkeley County AARP Chapter, in West Virginia, many seniors rely on daily home-delivered meals for nutritional needs. The idea of a blizzard box is to provide those seniors with an emergency food supply when inclement weather prevents normal food delivery.
