Vintage motorcycle event returns to Terra Alta

TERRA ALTA, W.Va — The 2015 McKee’s Sky Ranch All-Brand Motorcycle Event is set for July 23 in Terra Alta, and organizers say this year’s vintage motorcycle extravaganza has something for everyone one and will attract enthusiasts from across the nation.mckee-ahrma-875x530

Organizer and promoter Tom McKee said the annual event features a dual sport ride, swap meet, bike show and AHRMA (American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association) races and much more.

“This year’s event builds on the success of past programs and begins on July 23 with a three hour dual sport riding experience that combines unimproved dirt roads with moderately challenging mountain trails and stream crossings,” McKee said, adding, “Participants and the public are invited.”

McKee said the adventure ride is new for 2015 and is intended for bigger bikes. The course is mostly dirt and gravel back roads that wind through the tri-state area.

On July 24, street and touring enthusiasts will have the opportunity to be a part of an 80-mile road run through the West Virginia countryside. The event is also open to vintage and smaller displacement bikes. Also on July 24 is also field meet day, complete with old fashion motorcycle games, and the West Virginia Motorcycle Safety Program simulator. Both events are free.

July 25-26, the event offers competitive events on the natural terrain of McKee’s 200-plus acre ranch. “Classic museum quality motorcycles will compete, as they were originally intended, in the AHRMA National Cross Country, National Vintage and Post Vintage Motocross races,” McKee said.

In addition, the Sky Ranch event will feature a swap meet, vintage bike display, motorcycle art by John Panck and a photography exhibit by Karl Jarvis.

The ranch offers on-site camping (no-hook-ups) with plenty of level room to accommodate everything from tents to large RV’s.

General admission to the event is $10 per day or $30 for all four days. Both the dual sport ride and the adventure ride registration fees are $10 each. Sign up is at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively. The same fee applies to the Road Run on July 24. Sign up is 8 a.m. Swap meet space for the  four-day event is $50 and includes a day pass.

McKee’s Sky Ranch is located at 70 MeKee Sky Ranch Road, Terra Alta, WV 26764. For more information, call 304-789-2810 or visiti www.mckeeskyranch.com.
