HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Local leaders are reminding residents to gather at 6 p.m. Monday, April 17, for a show of support as Huntington finishes the competition that will name America’s Best Community.

The City of Huntington is one of just eight communities remaining in the America’s Best Communities competition, a $10 million initiative sponsored by Frontier Communications, DISH Network, CoBank and The Weather Channel to revitalize small towns and rural communities across the country.

The winning communities will be named Wednesday at the America’s Best Communities Grand Prize Ceremony in Denver, Colorado. The top community will be awarded $3 million, second place will win $2 million, and third will receive $1 million.

Local leaders will gather the community for the “Rally to be America’s Best” at Pullman Square in downtown Huntington to boost excitement ahead of the big moment.

Huntington’s presentation regarding its ABC competition experience is scheduled for noon (EST) Wednesday, April 19, in Denver. The winners will then be announced at 7 p.m. (EST). Both events are scheduled to be streamed live on the “America’s Best Communities” Facebook page.
